UC Analog - Quick Start

Updated at April 9th, 2026

Prerequisites

UC Analog is an add on service.

Quick Start Guide

Package Contents

Your UC Analog package includes:

  • UC Analog device
  • Two external detachable LTE antennas
  • Mounting bracket with screws and anchors
  • 4x phone wires (RJ-11)
  • Ethernet cable (CAT5)
  • AC power adapter and power adapter cable

Assembly

  1. Connect the two included LTE antennas to the back of the UC Analog endpoint (labelled A) . Screw the swivel nuts clockwise until they are finger tight and are holding the antenna in a steady upright position. Do not over-tighten. NOTE: The swivel nut on the antenna cannot be separated from the rest of the antenna assembly.

  1.  Attach the included AC power adapter to the UC Analog endpoint (labelled B) and plug the other end into a wall. The power adapter has a snapping connector to prevent accidental disconnects. To remove it from the UC Analog unit, squeeze the connector from the top and bottom and gently pull it out.

  1. Turn the power switch to the ON position (labelled C) . USB POWER GPS ON/OFF 1 2 3 4 WAN LAN B USB POWER GPS OFF/ON A C 6 A Connect UC Analog to the Internet

Account Activation

You should have received an email containing your account number, the device serial number, and the phone number of your pre-activated UC Analog when the device shipped.

The activation code can be found on the FCC label on the bottom of the device.

Assembly

  1. Connect the two included LTE antennas to the back of the UC Analog device. Screw the swivel nuts clockwise until finger-tight, and the antenna is in a steady upright position. Do not over-tighten.
  2. Attach the included AC power adapter to the UC Analog unit, then plug the other end into a wall outlet. The power adapter has a snapping connector to prevent accidental disconnects. To remove it, squeeze the connector at the top and bottom, then gently pull it out.
  3. Turn the power switch to the ON position.

Connect UC Analog to the Internet

When your UC Analog device starts up for the first time, it will download and install updates. This process can take up to 5 minutes, during which the LCD panel may go blank. When UC Analog is powered on and ready for use, its status will change to IN-SERVICE.

You can connect the four ports labelled 1 through 4 on the back of UC Analog to up to four devices that require traditional phone line replacement (for example, dialers, alarms, entry systems, communicators).

The LCD on the front of the UC Analog endpoint (Labelled A) shows the status of each phone line, the LTE signal strength, the battery charge, the AC adapter status, and the overall system status.

Placement Guidelines

Your UC Analog endpoint must be installed in an area with suitable LTE cellular coverage.

To test coverage, check the signal strength indicator bars on the UC Analog unit's LCD display. If the indicator shows two bars or fewer, try moving the UC Analog to a different location. The UC Analog endpoint includes a built-in battery that powers the unit if the power is disconnected. You can use the battery to move your UC Analog between locations to identify a spot with ideal signal strength. The UC Analog comes with four phone cables for connecting it to an alarm, dialer, patch panel, or other telephony equipment. If the UC Analog is installed more than 6 feet from the equipment for which it will provide traditional phone line replacement service, you will need a longer phone cable to connect it to your equipment.

The UC Analog device and included antennas should only be installed indoors or in an enclosed environment, away from moisture and high heat. For the best LTE signal:

  Do   Avoid
  • Place the device in an area with good cellular reception, such as a room with a window.
  • Install on the highest possible floor of your building.
  • Verify the LTE signal strength on the LCD display before finalizing installation.
  • Installing in a basement.
  • Placing near large concrete, sheet metal, or steel slabs.
  • Installing near electrical cabling, cabinets, or large volumes of wire mesh.
  • Installing near plumbing.

If the LCD shows two bars or fewer, try moving UC Analog to a different location. The built-in battery lets you move the device to find the best signal.

Extend UC Analog from the Demarc to Improve LTE

Leverage existing available "house" cabling.

Note: You will need an available 110 VAC outlet within 5 feet of each UC Analog endpoint placement.

Installation and Mounting

The UC Analog device can sit flat on a horizontal surface, such as a desk or shelf, or be mounted vertically on a wall. To mount on a wall, attach the included mounting bracket (labelled A), align UC Analog, then slide it down slightly to lock into place (labelled B). Cables should hang beneath the device.

Battery Replacement

If your battery becomes depleted, you can purchase and install a Replacement. To replace the battery pack:

  • Open the door on the right side of the device.
  • Remove the screw that holds the battery cover in place.
  • Disconnect the battery from the white electrical connector. Depress the top locking tab, hold the wires firmly, and gently pull to disconnect.
  • Remove the old battery, then insert the new one.
  • Connect the battery cable to the white electrical connector by inserting the socket straight into the header with the locking tab up until it clicks.
  • Reinsert the battery cover, secure it with the screw, and close the access door.

BATTERY WARNING

The battery used in this device may pose a risk of fire or chemical burns if mishandled. Do not disassemble, heat, or incinerate. Replace the battery only with an authorized UC Analog replacement pack. Dispose of the battery properly. Keep away from children.

Tips and Tricks

Key Points for Fire Alarm and Control Panels (FACP)

  • By code, there are usually 2 telephone numbers in scope on 2 independent interfaces. Comms 1 (teleco 1) and Comms 2 (teleco 2). UC Analog intends to replace both wherever possible.
  • Ensure that the customer calls their central station monitoring company and puts the panel in "test" mode before any intrusive discovery or line transitions. They will likely need their account#, which is often labelled on the inside door of the panel.
  • Be alert for any upstream wiring that returns from a panel that might service devices like a fax, call box or security using the same dial tone. Normally, per code, this is tolerable on FACP comms 2 associated with its secondary telephone number. You might see this at the panel (Comms 2), or it's associated with the RJ-31X jack.
  • If not already accounted for, we'll need to discern what the device is and escalate to support.
  • If any compatibility or validation fails on the fire panels, escalate to support.

Optional Accessories

  • Extended phone cable (50 ft) for installations where the device is more than 6 feet from the equipment.
  • Replacement battery pack for when the original battery is depleted.
  • Coax extension cables for antennas (SMA connectors; maximum 10 feet, low impedance recommended).
  • Heated enclosures (50, 100 or 150 W)
