UC Analog is an add on service.
UC Analog does not power on after connecting the power adapter
- The LCD display on some UC Analog could take up to 4 minutes to light up. In the meantime, there's no indication that the unit has been powered on.
- Check whether the power OFF/ON button in the left corner at the rear of the panel has been flipped to ON.
- Check whether the power adapter is fully inserted into the plug. It will make a clicking sound when it's inserted correctly.
- Check whether the power adapter is plugged in and that its green LED is glowing.
- If the power adapter has a green light and the unit does not power on (the LCD stays dark and there's no dial tone), then power cycle the device by turning the Power OFF/ON switch to OFF, then back to ON.
- Unplug the power adapter. Turn the Power OFF/ON switch to OFF, open the battery compartment on the left side of UC Analog device, and use a Philips screwdriver to remove the battery cover. Disconnect the battery at the white connector (as illustrated in the QSG) and reconnect it. Re-secure the battery cover and close the compartment. Plug the power adapter in and restart the device by turning the Power OFF/ON switch to ON.
- If the above steps fail, then the AC power adapter might be defective and might need to be replaced
No Dial tone on the configured port
- If the STATUS displayed on the LCD panel is In-Service and there is no dial tone on the configured ports, try power-cycling the device once or twice. If this doesn't resolve the issue, then contact your customer service representative.
- If the STATUS displayed on the LCD panel is DOWN and there is no dial tone on the configured ports, the unit cannot access cloud services because it cannot connect to the IP network via LTE or Ethernet (if available).
The LCD displays POWER as "BATTERY BACKUP"
- This might be because the unit is not receiving power from the AC power adapter. Ensure that the power adapter is connected to the UC Analog device, plugged in, and that the green LED on the adapter is on.
- Follow the steps described above in the “UC Analog does not power on after connecting the power adapter” section above.
The LCD does not light up, but the unit has a dial tone
- Power cycle the device by turning the Power OFF/ON switch to OFF and then back to ON.
- Unplug the power adapter. Turn the Power OFF/ON switch to OFF. Open the battery compartment on the left side of the UC Analog device and use a Philip's screwdriver to remove the battery cover. Disconnect the battery at the white connector (as illustrated in the Quick Start Guide) and reconnect it. Re-secure the battery cover and close the compartment. Plug the power adapter in and restart the device by turning the Power OFF/ON switch to ON.
LCD displays STATUS as "Down" and configured ports don't have a dial tone on LTE when Ethernet is not connected, or don't have network connectivity over wired Ethernet
- This occurs when the UC Analog device cannot reach cloud services over LTE
- Ensure that the SIM card has been activated (contact your support representative) and that the displayed LTE status shows moderate to good signal strength (2 to 4 stars) followed by 4GLTE.
- If the LTE signal strength is poor at the location where the UC Analog device l is installed, the unit might not be able to register with cloud services, resulting in the STATUS being shown as DOWN. Try installing the device in a location with better signal reception, or connect it over Ethernet.
The LCD displays STATUS as "Down," and configured ports don't have a dial tone when Ethernet is connected
- When Ethernet is connected before the device is powered on, the UC Analog device will try to connect to the cloud services over Ethernet. If it can't connect over Ethernet, then the UC Analog device will try to connect over LTE within 10 mins.
- If the UC Analog device cannot connect to cloud services over either the Ethernet or LTE network, ensure that the Ethernet port is connected to a network. Check that it is receiving a DHCP (dynamic IP address) and that it can be used to browse the internet by connecting it to a laptop.
- Check the firewall and NAT port settings as described in the KB article Configuring Firewalls for Use with UC Analog
The LCD displays LTE status as "No SIM Card"
- Open the battery compartment to check if the SIM card is inserted in SIM slot-1.
- Remove and reinsert the SIM card. Ensure it is pushed all the way back into the slot, then power cycle the device. Try this method a few times if it doesn't work the first time.
Choppy Audio, Breaks in Audio or Excessive Audio Delay
- This is typically attributed to poor network conditions, such as congestion, slow speeds, overload, or poor signal quality on the LTE network. If the UC Analog device is connected via Ethernet, try reducing network load or switching to a different VLAN with less congestion. If the device is connected to LTE, try moving the UC Analog to a location with better signal strength. To test coverage, check the signal strength indicator bars on the UC Analog unit's LCD display. If the indicator shows two bars or fewer, try moving the UC Analog device to a different indoor location.
UC Analog Port Configuration Options
- UC Analog FXS ports can be configured in either Voice/FAX mode or in Alarm mode. When connecting to equipment that supports voice or FAX calls, set the mode to Voice/FAX; when connecting the UC Analog to an alarm panel that sends tonal messages over the phone line, set the mode to ALARM. Verify this setting with support.
Using UC Analog with Phone-line Powered Equipment
- UC Analog can supply power to equipment that relies on phone lines as the primary or secondary power source. UC Analog can supply up to 28 mA while maintaining the required 5-7 V on the line when off-hook.
- If the equipment requires more than 28 mA, we recommend installing an external AC power adapter to power it directly.
Battery Backup
- UC Analog includes a built-in Li-ion battery pack that will power the unit for up to 10 hours in the event of a power outage.
Operation with the Pulse Dialling System
UC Analog does not support older/obsolete pulse dialling systems. If you can, change the equipment's mode/setting to tone dialling before connecting it to the UC Analog device.
UC Analog is not registering on LTE or is not going into service due to poor LTE signal conditions
- If the location where UC Analog is installed has a very weak LTE signal, the device might not be able to successfully register with the cellular network and provide voice services. In such cases, the UC Analog device should either be moved to a location with better signal conditions or connected via a wired Ethernet/LAN network.
