Caller Number tagged as SPAM

Updated at January 21st, 2026

Prerequisites

Access to the portal with reseller or higher scope to update the Caller ID or Office Manager or lower scope to review the Caller ID number.

When a caller number is tagged as SPAM in Canada, it means your mobile carrier (like Rogers, Bell) or a third-party app flagged it using AI and databases because it shows patterns of spam, fraud, surveys, or telemarketing, often due to user reports or high-volume calls, with labels like "Likely Spam" or "Possible Fraud" helping you decide to answer. If your number is being flagged as spam when you call, you can contact your carrier or use their spam reporting forms to get it reviewed and whitelisted, as the issue often resolves as databases update.

When a number is tagged as SPAM in Canada, the "symptoms" are the warnings on your phone screen, like "Likely Spam," "Spam Risk," or "Scam Likely," often accompanied by the call going straight to voicemail or being blocked (which can be represented by a fast busy), indicating the carrier's system detected suspicious patterns like high call volume, very short calls, or numerous user reports.

Why numbers get tagged as spam

  • User reports: Many users marking a number as spam.
  • Robocall patterns: High-volume calling, calls from many locations, or numbers that look like common scam numbers.
  • Carrier systems: Carriers use AI and analytics to identify suspicious activity in real-time.

Steps to resolve the situation:

  • Verify the caller ID Format  in the portal check the user settings to ensure that the Caller ID is entered correctly.
    1. Log in to the Manager Portal
  1. Navigate to Users

How to Get Your Number Whitelisted (for Businesses/Legitimate Callers)

  1. Contact Carriers Directly: Each carrier (Telus, Rogers, Bell) has its own system; find their specific "Voice Trust" or spam removal page.

    • Avoid "Dead Air": Ensure calls connect to live agents promptly.
    • Rotate Numbers: Use different numbers for different campaigns.
